If the SPACES hi-viz could talk…
As SPA Security & Events, we’ve had a fascinating history over the past 10 years. As you see the yellow and pink ‘steward’ and ‘security’ hi-viz jackets moving around at an event one wonders what stories those jackets could tell……
They would tell of many Royal Events including looking after Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th Birthday dinner for all the Royal Family at Kew Palace and the subsequent re-opening of the Palace by Prince Charles.
They would talk of the places they’ve been: from the muddy fields of Agricultural Shows across the UK in such counties as Berkshire, Devon, Yorkshire, Kent and Essex to the historic splendour of some of London’s Historic Palaces, the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and Leeds Castle.
They would remember the many celebrity weddings, events and parties where they’ve listened to and looked after a vast array of musical talent that is too vast to mention (but let’s name drop a few!): from Katherine Jenkins to Status Quo via The Wanted and then from Madness to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra taking in Elton John, Simply Red, Jools Holland and Ringo Starr along the way!
They may elaborate on the charged negotiations between Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrat Party as they formed the coalition Government with the Conservative Party in 2010.
From the beauty and glamour of Miss World at Olympia, to the wet and mud covered Cancer Research UK Pretty Muddy events. From as far afield as Scotland’s Festival of History in the North to Devon’s traditional Widecombe Fair in the South with Uncle Tom Cobleigh and all!
Of course not everything goes smoothly and they would certainly remember when things haven’t gone quite to plan; the extreme weather conditions causing 15ft of snow that saw the cancellation of Europe’s largest Christmas Market in Lincoln for the first time in its history, the flash flooding that threatened the largest Air Festival in Europe at Bournemouth and the extreme heat the following year at the same event. Throughout these they have been visible, making sure of the safety and well-being of the public and everyone involved at the events.
They would also certainly remember the celebrations and public support as the Olympic Torch went across the UK to its final resting place in the Olympic Stadium and continuing to assist in making the 2012 Olympics the success it was.
So many stories about the prominent and celebrated guests of today – the politicians, the Royalty, the showbiz stars of stage and screen….. the list goes on.
And there would be more stories too…… many more.
But maybe, just maybe, they would say nothing because they would be too professional, concerned only with the safety and security of the venues, the organisers, the visitors and the integrity of the events.
As the hi-viz’s transform from SPA Security & Events into SPACES the smooth transition will inevitably bring more success and experiences of the wide range of events and services they provide and look forward to the challenges ahead.
